It's quite simple my dear Watson… It takes too damn long.
Over the past few weeks I've been meaning to (and wanting to) post some things here on dA, however, I can never seem to get past doing anything other than browsing the newest submissions of the artists that I'm watching. I tend to post a lot more of my stuff on Facebook for my family and friends to see (even though I've grown to hate Facebook). I also post on Google+ at times. I intend to make it my primary space for work that I produce in the near future (because I love the usefulness and EASE OF USE of the entire Google suite of products). I really enjoy dA, but I just can't bring myself to push (click) through the myriad of pages and options involved in submitting art—though I do understand and appreciate the reason for all of those options being there.
This quarter, I'm taking Intro to User Centered Design. Because of this class, I'm gaining the ability to better convey the things that I think should be done differently for the information architecture and layout of deviantArt. In this class, we actually have to take a website that we think is poorly designed and redesign it to explore the user-centered design process. At this point I'm kind of wishing I had chosen dA for my project. Usability Testing is the next class and the project in the current class is meant to be the basis for the next one, but I may switch it up and do a redesign of dA for that class.
Who am I kidding…
That would take too damn long.
